Silky Terriers are the lighter breed, and the term
"silky" comes from the silky appearance of their coats. Ah, you are
thinking to yourself, "Hm, is that so?". And to this I respond, "Yeah,
oh doubting one." But don't believe me.
That's my story and well, I'm not changing it so
thththththth!
Hey, did you know that the Silky Terrier is
actually born black and tan? If not for their tiny size you might think
you were getting a rottie or something! Ha, naa.
The silky puppies weigh in at about 3-6 oz when
they are born. Their eyes will not open for a few weeks. Amazingly
enough the Silky Terrier was created or developed or whatever you want
to call that thing those breeders do when they end up with something
different than the original dog type pooch and turn it into something
called a pure breed dog...
Oh, I got off track. Anyway, the Silky Terrier is
well suited for city life, and that believe it or NOT, was the intention
of those that actually sought out to tweak the dogs they were breeding
into something called a Silky Terrier.
Personally, I think you're nuts to get any small dog, that of which
cannot stand the penalties that a child without any restraint can
inflict on them, nuts to think you can bring a little tiny inky dinky
dog into your home, like say, a Silky Terrier when you have small
children and or babies.
I read one story about a lady who witnessed a child mishandling a small
terrier and it ended up with a broken leg. That's not the worst part.
The worst part was that the owners never bothered to take it to the vet
to fix it!
Happy ending... the lady who saw all this happening
one day could not longer stand it. She walked right over to where the
little terrier was sitting in the yard, scooped it up and said, "MINE!"
Well, that's basically what she said. And the cute
little Yorkie, or Silky Terrier, I forget which, lived happily ever
after with his new mommy. :)
Doesn't that just pull on yer ol heart strings?
